

Users may know what they want to see, but they may not know the underlying data model well enough to know how to ask for it. This often falls to the end of the process, but I find it much more effective as a first step as it can lead to a more collaborative discussion.

In order to build a report we need to have a set of requirements. Next we will look at several ways to do this. This allows us to capture different perspectives, challenge the validity or derivation of the data and make it more accessible. To make these analyses even more useful we can add layers of sharing and collaboration. The consumption of the data is an important piece of their usage. Reports and dashboards are an integral part of every Salesforce org and are key components to uncover business insights as well as to drive actionable decisions.
